SUMMARY
OF MEETING WITH GEORGIA POWER COMPANY, HATCH UNITS 1 AND 2 A meeting with representatives of Georgia Power Company (GPC) and personnel from the NRC was held at the NRC's offices in Bethesda, Maryland on November 4, 1986.
It was the sixth, of a series of quarterly meetings that GPC and the NRC have agreed to hold to discuss Hatch Uni: 1 and 2 licensing activities.
Principal topics discussed were: a) the Hatch Unit 2 outage status, b) the Hatch Unit I schedule and plans for its next outage, c) the status of NRC review of GPC requests for amendments and other submittals, d) the status of GPC commitments and responses to NRC requests, e) the status of the Hatch Technical Specification improvemant program, f))the status of implementation of emergency operation facility requirements, g the status of GPC's requested code interpretation of hydrostatic testing requirements, h) the Hatch procedure upgrade program and i) a GPC activity directed at clarifying Appendix J valve test requirements. A list of meeting attendees is enclosed.
GPC stated that Unit 2, currently in a maintenance and refueling outage is 12 days behind schedule.
(November 9,1986 is the original completion schedule) The next Unit I refueling outage is scheduled for March or April 1987. The outage is scheduled for an 8 week duration and will include and inservice inspection of welds in addition to refueling. GPC stated that industry is looking for a policy statement or criteria from the NRC concerning i
Technical Specification Improvements. GPC would expect to submit its improved Technical Specifications in June or July 1987, and implement them about 9 months af ter approval. GPC says its cost of implementation of these improved Technical Specifications will be about 5 million dollars.

. GPC expects to submit its valve testing paper in mid 1987 or later. GPC stated is Technical Support Center, Operations Support Center and Emergency Operations Facility are complete.
It will notify the NRC of this completion by letter. GPC agreed to provide a special briefing on its procedure upgrade program in the near future.
