ALTERNATE RADWASTE FACILITY

Dear Mr. Denton:

In response to a request from a member of your staf f concerning the operation of the Alternate Radwaste Facility (ARF) the following information is supplied.

The Operations Department and IIcalth Physics Department personnel have been trained to respond as follows:

In the event of a radioactive spill in the Alternate Radwaste Facility -

Isolate the source Stop all processing Contain and cover the spill t.tilizing the AFR spill kit Notify the Control Room and llealth Physics Control Entry to the ARF Clean up the spiti at IIcalth Physics' direction In the event of continuous air monitor alarm or area radiation monitor alarm in the Alternate Radwaste Facility -

Stop all processing Isolate all potential sources of leairage Notify the Control Room and llcalth Physics leave the area Control entry to ARF licalth Physics will identify the source of alarm and abate In addition, all process vents are routed to the Auxiliary lluilding Rad Vent System.
