MODIFICATION OF THE AUTOCLAVE INTERLOCK CONTROLS COMPLIANCE PLAN ISSUE 3, ACTION 8
Dear Mr. Toelle:
Your September 29,1997, letter requested the NRC's acknowledgment of a proposed change to the Commitment section of the Paducah Compliance Plan, Issue 3. Action 8 of issue 3 required modification of the C 360 autoclave controls to prevent the autoclaves from Doing inadvertently opened when an autoclave High Pressure isolation System containment signalis present. USEC has determined that the existing system installation already performs this function and plans to revise the Safety Analysis Report to reflect this situation. The text of SAR section 3.6.7.5 is also contained in the Commitment section of Complianca Plan, Issue 3 and, therefore, NRC acknowledgment is necessary before the section can be revised.
We have reviewed your letter and the applicable SAR and Compliance Plan sections and have coordinated our review with the Department of Energy. We have no objection to the proposed change to the Commitment section of Issue 3 of the Compliance Plan, if you have any questions, please contact Ms. Merri Horn of my staff at (301) 415 8126.
