AP600 FIRE PROTECTION REVIEW SCHEDULE
Dear Mr. McIntyre:
This is to confirm our October 20,1997, discussions of the fire protection review. Westinghouse intends to submit its final markup of Section 9.5 of the AP600 Final Safety Analysis Report on October 31,1997. As a result of Westinghouse's commitment to supply the markup on this date, the staff has decided to defer drafting of the final safety evaluation report (FSER) open items until after it has received the markup. The staff will review the markup and identify any remaining open items by November 26,1997. At that time any remaining open issues would be sent to Westinghouse. The FSER input, which would be based on the October 31,1997, submittals,
- would be completed by December 22,1997.
The staff plans to proceed on the above identified path in an effort to meet defined schedule commitments and to effect an orderly and efficient completion of the fire protedion review..The importance of Westinghouse meeting the October 31,1997, date cannot be utiderstated. If the markup submittal date slips, identification of open issues for fire protection area would slip, staff resources would be wasted, and the AP600 schedule would be impacted.
