' International Equipment Trading Limited ATTN: Mr. Turgay Kaya President 3005 Commercial Avenue Northbrook, IL 60062 Gentlemen:
This is in reference.to your receipt and transfer of a gas chromatograph unit containing hydrogen-3 during March 1986 from a facility in the State of Florida. As discussed in a telephone conversation between Mr. T. Kaya and me.
on January 21, 1987, International Equipment Trading Limited does not have an NRC license ~ to receive, possess, or transfer equipment containing radioactive materials _at the Northbrook, Illinois location. Consequently, your receipt of this gas chromatograph was in violation of NRC regulations.
It is our understanding that the gas chromatograph shipping package was not opened while at your facility, the package was transferred to Brighton Analytical,1876 Alloy Parkway,_ Highland, Michigan, and the hydrogen-3 source was disposed of by the manufacturer, Varian Associates.
It is also our understanding that International.
Equipment Trading Limited will not receive radioactive materials in the-future unless it applies for and obtains the appropriate NRC or Agreement State license.
If our understanding of any of the above is incorrect, please contact me ininediately at (312) 790-5625.
Sincerely, Original Signed by Bruce S. Mallett, Ph.D., Chief Materials Licensing Section cc: Polly Weaver, Office of Radiation Control, State of Florida
