Consumers Energy Company submitted a letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) recuesting an exemption to certain sections of Title 10 of the Code of feceral Regulations. Part 50.47 " Emergency Plans".10 CFR 50 Appendix E. Paragraph IV " Content of Emergency Plans", and 10 CFR 50.54 " Conditions of Licenses".

On October 22, 1997. Consumers Energy Company and the NRC participated in a conference call to discuss the exemption request.
