Subject:

Facility License No. R-52, Docket 50-113 Application for Amendment of Technical Specifications Application is hereby made for amendment of the Technical Specifications of the Operating License of the University of Arizona Research Reactor.

l.

The change is needed to identify the proper communication channels for the reporting i.

requirements of section 6.7. This change is caused by Region IV no longer being in the

_ reporting loop (letter dated 7/2/97 from Ellis W. Merschoff directing this facility to i

forward Region IV reports to the Non-Power Reactors and Decommissioning Project

. Directorate).

Section 6.7(a) will now read "a report within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
by telephone and telegraph or telefax (FAX) to the Non-Power Reactors and Decommissioning Project Directorate."

In sections 6.7(b),6.7(c),6.7(d) and 6.7(e), reporting requirements specifying Region IV will be replaced with the Non-Power Reactors and Decommissioning Directorate.'

At this time we would also like to correct a typographical error recemiy discovered.

Section 6.5(b) will now read "A report shall be made which :: hall include an analysis of the cause of the occurrence, efficacy of corrective action and....."

--The submitted document is supplied with copies as specified in 10CFR50.4, in two versions: one showing editorial marks (additions italicized, deletions struck through) and one clean version as revised.
