VALUABLE LESSONS CAN BE LEARNED FROM THE REGULATORY TRANSITION OF THE GASEOUS DIFFUSION PLANTS Attached is the Office of the inspector General's special evaluation of NRC's program for regulation of the two gaseous diffusion plants operated by the United States Enrichment Corporation. This special evaluation contains our observations on the agency's prt.; ram.
We briefed senior officials in the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards following our review and they agreed with our observations. Because this special evaluation does not contain recommendations, we did not solicit agen:y comments.
