The calculation Indicates this piping is it feet long. See Drawing EP 79K for pipe length. By not including this portion of pipe, the total developed head is underestimated which is not at:ceptable.
The flow rates for the De Waaring system are under 150 gpm for all line s!zes which include 1%',2",10" and 12" pipes. The calculation references Crane Technical Paper #410 for the head loss per 100 feet of piping. The papr provides head loss data l
for a 10" pipe starting at 475 gpm and for a 12" pipe starting at 700 gpm. The head loss is proportional to the square of the flow. The resulting head losses calculated using the square of the flow method are smaller than the values used.

Dkcrepency: Differences in Support Drawings and TSO2 Data Deecripth: 1. Drawing EE 34DT Rev. 7 (C-4) shows tray support A306 26 for Tray 3T1140. TSO2 does not list this support, but lists a A307 26.
- 2. Several tray supports do not have mark numbers - which provide for the unique identification r,f a support based on a standard support type and the specific location - shown on the support location drawings (EE 34-DX Rev. 8 and EE 34DY Rev.
8 ). Therefore,it is not possible to reconcile these supports with TSO2. Example: for tray 3TX214N, three type 'A10$* supports are shown-TSO2 lists the A105 supports as 47, 53,41.
(typical situation with 34DY).
- 3. F E 20188 adds conduits to tray support A104 however, the drawing was not listed as impacted and no mention of the additional conduit loads (no other conduits are supported from this support) for the tray support was made on any the drawing.
- 4. Trays 3TX703N and 3TX706N are vortical risers located in the Fuel Building. These trays are shown on Support Detail Drawing EE 34 HM, Rev. 3. The supports are direct attachment angles to embedded strut. The tray is installed in acCordance with the detail of the drawing. TSO2 does not list any supports for these l
tray risers.

Date Putdlehed: 1GM97 Diecrepancy: SLCRS Filler Housing Design Pressure De*criftion: During the review of the design pararr, eters for the Supplementary Leak Collection and Release System (SLCRS) filter units (3HVR*FLT3A/38) a discrepancy regarding the design pressure of the filter housings was identified.
FSAR Table 1.61 indicates that the filter units are in compliance with Regu!alory Guide 1.52, ReV. 2, position C.3 9 which requires the filter housings to be designed in accordance with the provisions of ANSI N5091976 Section 5.6.
ANSI N5091976 Section 5.6 states that the housings shall be designed and constnced to meet the structural and pressure loadings of Section 4. Section 4.6 identifies the following three pressure loading conditions: 1) Units and components that must withstand pressure transients,2) Units and components that must withstand fan peak pressure, and 3) Units and components subjected only to rated air flow, in accordance with ANSI N509-1976 Section 4.6.2.2, the SLCRS filter units must withstand a negative intemal pressure equal to er more negative than the peak pressure of fan 3HVR*FN12A/B since there are isolation dampers (3HVR*AOD95A/B) upstream of the SLCRS filter units.
Specification 2170.430-065 states that the filter housings are designed for 15 inches of water gauge (iwg) negative pressure.
The SLCRS exhaust fans (3HVR*FN12A/128) have a rated pressure of 22.2 iwg per Specification 2176.430141. Closure of the fire damper (3HVR*DMPF29,3HVR*DMPF44) downstream of the fan or of the air operated damper (3HVR*AOD95A/958) at the inlet of the filter housing could result an intemal housing pressure of 22.2 iwg which is greater than the.15 iwg design pressure for the housing.

The data included in the CCD was not incorporated into the drawing as shown in the CCD and no other design changes were referenced nor any explanation of the differences provided.
- 3. Conduit Support Log (CSL)12179 FSK CS 1343, Rev,7, with no outstanding change documents, lists condults 3CX900PA, 3CX900WB2, and 3CX900PC2 as supported by this support.
These conduits are not included in TSO2 as supported by this support. TSO2 lists an additional conduit, 3CX900PC, not shown on the CSL, as supported from this support.

The discrepancy is that the procedure was not followed, and that no justification was provided for bypassing the procedure, in this modification, it is clear to an experienced reviewer that an ALARA DESIGN review was truly not needed, and that the change w,'il actually reduce the dose in later outages. Therefore, the concem is not one of the effect of the design, it is, rather, what appears to be an unsupported capability to bypass a procedure.

10/15/97 INVALID: The ALARA design review form in the Design Control Manual (NUC DCM) permits the ALARA coordinator to make a judgement regarding the need for the detailed ALARA design review. This is apparently the process that was followed in the mod when it was concluded that the detailed review was not required. Therefore, the discrepancy is not valid (because the signature on the footnote indicates that the requirements imposed by the form in NUC DCM were followed.)
