In the Reference 1 letter, PECO Energy Company (PECO Energy) provided for f
'your review and approval the relief requests and an alternative plan associated -
y' ) D with the third, ten-year-interval, inservice Testing (IST) Program for the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station (PBAPS), Units 2 and 3. As discussed in the Reference 1 letter, based on the conclusion date of the current second interval, which is scheduled to occur on November 4,1997, we requested your review and approval by September 1,1997. As a result of further conversations between the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) Project Manager and PECO Energy Licensing Staff, we agreed upon a revised target date of 9710290199 971021 D

. November 1,1997 for your approval. Upon further review, PECO Energy is -
extending the second interval IST Program dates to provide additional time for implementing program revisions, and to provide USNRC staff additional review time.
The new second interval IST dates are as follows:
PBAPS, Unit 2 - September 19,1986 to August 14,1998 PBAPS, Unit 3 - December 23,1985 to August 14,1998 Therefore, PECO Energy is requesting approval of the third, ten-year-interval, inservice Testing Program by June 30,1998. The third interval dates will be as follows:
A PBAPS, Units 2 and 3 - August 15,1998 to August 14,2008 In accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(4), the second interval IST Program for PBAPS, Units 2 and 3 conforms to ASME Section XI,1980 Edition through f
L Winter 1981 addendum. This edition and addendum permits an interval to be decreased or extended by as much as one (1) year, and extended to account for F
units that are out of service for six (6) months or more (paragraph IWA-2400(c)).

Inservice Inspection (ISI) and Inservice Testing (IST) Program intervals for PBAPS, Units 2 and 3. Based on IWA-2400(c), the second interval IST Program concluding date for PBAPS, Units 2 and 3 will be extended by approximately j
