. CONCERNING STAFF REQUIREMENTS - SECY 070 -
IMPLEMENTATION PLAN FOR THE PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS INITIATIVE (DSI-14)
Based on the information provided by the staff in this COMSECY, I concur in the staff's proposal to provide a one-month transition period (from October 1 to October 29,1999) for publig use of
' ADAMS. ' During this period, the current NUDOCS system processing approach and services will continue to be provided. Prior to the expiration of the trial period, however, the staff should brief Commission offices on its assessment of the operational effectiveness of the ADAMS '
system from the standpoint of actual PDR users so that the Commission can make a final determination as to whether an extended trial period is warranted and what measures may need to be taken to facilitate public access to NRC documents.
