Dear Dr. Murley:
This represents the 1986 Annual Report of all challenges to Safety / Relief Valves for Limerick Generating Station, Unit 1 as required by Technical Specification 6.9.1.5.b.
The definition of challenges considered in this report is the automatic opening of main steam system safety / relief valves in response to high reactor pressure.
During 1986, there were no automatic openings of the main steam safety / relief valves in response to high reactor pressure.
On January 2, 1986, the main steam system safety / relief valves were manually opened to control reactor l
pressure during cooldown following the loss of condenser vacuum.
On June 18, 1987 the Automatic Depressurization System (ADS) Safety Relief Valves (S, H, M, E, K) were manually opened l
to conduct a Surveillance Test (ST-2-05-760-1), which was performed satisfactorily.
l A documentation of all challenges to the main steam system safety / relief valves has been submitted as part of the l
monthly operating report in order to comply with Technical Specification 6.9.1.6.
