SUBJECT:
EXTENSION OF THE LASALLE COUNTY STATION SYSTEMA ASSESSMENT OF LICENSEE PERFORMANCE (SALP) CYCLE
Dear Mr. Subalusky:
This letter is to inform you of our intent to extend the current SALP cycle, which have started up one of the units at LaSalle County Station. orig j
Both LaSalle County Station units have remained shut down since September 1 improvement efforts are currently underway, the effect have not yet been fully demonstrated. Given the current status of both units at La s
County Station, your staff's and our attention needs to be focused on implem assessing, respectively, the corrective actions for the identified performance deficien The NRC has concluded that completing the SALP process in accordance with t schedule would provide little,if any, added value with respect to communicating performance insights. Therefore, the completion of the current SALP assessment p be delayed to approximately six months after one of the units at LaSalle County St been startad up. This revised SALP end date will provide LaSalle County Station w opportunity to implement appropriate corrective actions and the NRC to evaluate the effectiveness of these actions during a period of sustained plant operations. We will notify you of the revised SALP assessment period end date following restart of one u LaSalle County Station.

and other regulatory initiatives, such as a restart team inspection, to ensure that your staff is ready to restart either unit and operate it safely.
