s October 15, 1997 Mr. William E. Cummins, General Manager New Plant Projects Division Westinghouse Electric Corporation P.O. Box 355 Pittsburgh, PA 15230 SU3 JECT: SUBMITTAL DATES FOR INFORMATION REQUIRED TO SUPPORT THE REVIEW OF THE AP600 DESIGN

Dear Mr. Cummins:

During the September 10,1997 meeting, Westinghouse committed to provide submittal dates to the staff for several expected submittals. Since that meeting, Westinghouse has also committed to submit additionalinformation on a variety of other issues (see enclosure). These submittals are key to the staff completing its review of the AP600 in a timely manner. As discussed during the September 10,1997 meeting, the staff is developing a revised review schedule for the AP600. In order for the staff to determine the revised review schedule, Westinghouse should formally submit its planned submittal dates for the items listed in the attachment as well as other submittals that Westinghoura anticipates submitting to support the review. This should include submittal dates for all outstanding requests for additionalinformation.

We request that you submit your proposed submittal dates within one week of receipt of this letter in order to support the issuance of the revised review schedule to the Commission, if you have any questions regarding this matter, you can contact Thomas J. Kenyon at (301) 4151120.

J Sincerely, Original signed by:
