DEFUELIrlG Efforts continued to remove the broken drill strings inbedded in the debris pile as a result of core drilling operations. Four of the six broken strings have been removed. Efforts will resune to remove the recaining two when water clarity is regained.

!!ydrogen peroxide was added to the Reactor Coolant Systen (RCS) to control the regreuth of the bio-organisas. The addition resulted in severe degradation of water clarity.

A decontanination experiment was perforced in the reactor building baseaent. A high pressure hydrolazer nounted on a robot was used to scarify the concrete. The results of the experinent are under evaluation.

The licensee completed the first of a series of tests of a prograa that involve addition of coagulant chenicals to the Defueling !!ater Cleanup Systea (DUCS) process streen. The coagulant, in conjunction with a filter aid material, was added while processing water from a bleed tank through a DWCS filter canister. Prelininary test results indicate a substantial increase in DUCS filter life as well as very good water clarity on the filter effluent. The test prograa will Continuc.

EllVIR0TENTAL fiONITORIllG US Environmntal Protection Agency (EPA) sauple analysis results show that TliI site liquid effluents are in accordance with regulatory linits, NRC requirenents, and the City of Lancaster Agreenent.

Ti1I water effluents are sacpled from t.he station (Unit.s 1 and 2) discharge and analyzed by EPA. Garru spectrum analyses of the seven daily composited scuples (November 22 - 29, 1986) indicated no TMI-2 related radioactivity.
