Docket No. 70-1257
Dear Mr. Crow:
This is to advise you that as a result of the acquisition of Exxon Nuclear by Siemens Capital Corporation, a U.S. affiliate of Kraftwerk Union AG (KWU), the corporate name of Exxon Nuclear Company, Inc. was changed on January 15, 1987 to Advanced Nuclear Fuels Corporction (and Exxon Nuclear af filiates' names were changed correspondingly).
KWU, headquartered in Muelheim, Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) is a wholly-owned affiliate of Siemens AG headquartered in Munich, FRG. Advanced Nuclear Fuels Corporation remains a U.S. company, incorporated in the State of Delaware, and headquartered in Bellevue, Washington.
Advanced Nuclear Fuels continues its fuel fabrication operations at its facilities in Richland, Washington and at Advanced Nuclear Fuels GmbH's facilities in Lingen, FRG.
We have discussed this acquisition with you and members of your staff from time to time over the past few months. As stated during those discussions, there i
l has been a change in the stock ownership of the compcoy c~1 a change in the company name; however, there has been no change in organization nor Company of ficers. We would plan to operate the Richland facilities within the constraints of the existing license SNM-1227 and wc hcrcby request that the license be amended to acknowledge the change in name of the licensee. We plan no other changes to the existing license at this time.
The existing license carries an expiration date of October 31, 1986. An application for license renewal was submitted pursuant to 10 CFR 70.33 by our letter dated September 12, 1986, was received in your office as acknowledged by your letter of September 23, 1986 and in accordance with 10 CFR 70.33(b) our existing license will remain in effect until action is taken on the renewal applica-tion. Some revision to that license application, including the matter of responsibility for decontamination and decommissioning of ANF's Richland facilities, due to the change in name and affiliation will be necessary.
Certain revised pages will be forwarded in the near future.
