G. E. Grant letter to W. T. Subalusky, dated November 15,1996, Transmitting NRC Inspection Report 50 373/374 96011 The subject inspection Report, in Section M3.3 b. Observations and Findinas, states that "The licensee... clarified the procedure to specify a maximum acceptable sedimentation height," and later, that "The licensee combined surveillances LTS 600-10 and LTS 600 23 with LTS 1000-4, and applied the surveillance requirement to the entire lake screen house, thereby including the service water tunnel and resolving the issue."

During a review by Site Quality Verification, it was identified that the subject procedures were not changed. Due to the amount of time that has elapsed since the inspection, we were unable to determine the cause of the apparent mis-communication between the Inspector and our staff, however, the issue documented in the Inspection Report will be resolved as indicated below:

j A Technical Specification change has been submitted to revise e

the inspection requirements for the Lake Screen House inlet Bays, Service Water Tunnel and CSCS Bypass Line. The i

procedures will be revised to implement the fechnical Specification change following approval, which is currently anticipated in December 1997 (NTS# 373 200 96 00150.05A) f LCDh )O yA *IE Ehd UlliIlll[llElllll!!!Blll
