PSC Response, dated July 28, 1986 (P-86490)

Gentlemen:

Public Service Company of Colorado (PSC) responded to I&E Bulletin 86-02, " Static '0' Ring Differential Pressure Switches," on July 28, 1986, and stated that no SOR Model 102 or 103 differential pressure switches are installed at Fort St. Vrain (FSV) as electrical equipment important to safety as defined in 10 CFR 50.49(b), or in systems which are subject to Limiting Conditions for Operations of the FSV Technical Specifications.

PSC also committed to submit additional information regarding the future use of SOR Model 102 or 103 differential pressure switches.

This letter provides that supplemental response.

PSC will not utilize Static '0' Ring Model 102 or 103 differential pressure switches as electrical equipment important to safety or in systems which are subject to Limiting Conditions for Operations of the FSV Technical Specifications until such time as the manufacturer corrects the design deficiencies identified in I&E Bulletin 86-02.

Administrative controls will be in place by March 15, 1987, that will preclude the procurement or use of this equipment.
