Response to Request for Regulatory Conference (EA-20-057; Inspection Report 05000-281/2020090)20-255 SCN 50-281 DPR-37 By letter dated June 26, 2020, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) transmitted its preliminary determination of a white finding and apparent violation associated with the Unit 2 turbine-drive auxiliary feedwater system discharge check valve failure that occurred at Surry Power Station on November 20, 2019. Contained in that letter was a request that Dominion Energy (DE) provide its intention whether DE intended to request a regulatory conference on the preliminary determination from the letter.
DE personnel have worked closely with the Staff's risk assessment personnel in order to characterize the event; consequently, a regulatory conference is not requested, and it is acknowledged that the DE's right of appeal of the final significance determination and enforcement decision will be waived.
If you have any additional questions, please contact Richard Philpot at (757) 365-2647.
