qj NOV 131986 License No. SNM-1975 Docket No. 070-03048 Control No. 106297 Bucknell University ATTN: Stephen F. Becker, Chairman Department of Physics Lewisburg, Pennsylvania 17837 Gentlemen:
Please find enclosed your NRC material license.
Please review the enclosed document carefully and be sure that you understand all conditions.
If there are any errors or questions, please notify the Region I Material Licensing Section, (215) 337-5239, so that we can provide appropriate corrections and answers.
Please be advised that you must conduct your program involving licensed radioactive materials in accordance with the conditions of your NRC license, representations made in your license application, and NRC regulations.
In particular, please note the items in the enclosed, " Requirements for Materials Licensees."
Since serious consequences to employees and the public can result from failure to comply with NRC requirements, the NRC expects licensees to pay meticulous attention to detail and to achieve the high standard of compliance which the NRC expects of its licensees.
You will be periodically inspected by NRC. A fee may be charged for inspections in accordance with 10 CFR Part 170.
Failure to conduct your program safely and in accordance with NRC regulations, license conditions, and representations made in your license application and supplemental correspondence.
with NRC will result in prompt and vigorous enforcement action against you.
This could include issuance of a notice of violation, or in case of serious violations, an imposition of a civil penalty or an order suspending, modifying or revoking your license as specified in the General Policy and Procedures for NRC Enforcement Actions, 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C.

070-00241 Inquiry No. 86-02 License No. SNM-223 Expiration Date:
January 30, 1985 Mr. John D.
Kinneman, Chief Region i U.
S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission Nuclear Materials Section A 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, PA 19406
SUBJECT:
Response to Notice of Violation dated 3 October 1986 Corrective steps:
- 1. We are applying for a new license.
- 2. We will automatically apply for license renewal if we still have the material at license expiration date.
It should be noted that, in the past, the NRC had always sent us license renewal forms prior to the license expiration date.
But for some reason, no renewal forms were sent to us this time.
Also, it should be noted that we have been trying to get rid of the radioactive material for more than two years.
The radioactive material on hand is in secure storage (in a locked room) and will stay that way until we are able to properly dispose of it.
Sincerely, QCenSe fee In[Orm3 tion Stephen F.
Becker, Chair N ca d c7 g r'.
