ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD MEASUREMENTS AR0UND PILGRIM This memorandum is in response to your request for us to review our environ-mental TLD data collected around the Pilgrim Site in order to determine whether offsite doses substantially increased during the period of the summer of 1982 when resin beads were spewed out of a plant stack. Our review of the TLD data for the period of January,1982 through March,1985, indicated that there were no abnormal radiation levels offsite during the summer of 1982.

Attachment I depicts the quarterly data for the station closest to the plant.

This station is located high above the site and was established specifically to be able to detect changes in the radiation level due to shine from the plant. The mean quarterly exposure is about 50 mrad for this location and the data collected for the summer of 1982 fall below the mean. Attachment 2 depicts the quarterly data for the nearest offsite station. It too indicates that there was no increase in radiation level during the summer of 1982 as the mean of the data points is somewhat higher than what was observed during the summer of 1982.
