Valves. The updated program is currently schedu'ed to take effect on January 15,1998. In a telephone i

conference on September 4,1997 (Reference b), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission asked several 4

questions about the updated program. Answers to those questions are provided below.

5 The cold shutdown justification for 1/2-SW-5149-CV (CSJ-44) has been revised based on your i

comments in Reference (b). Also based on your comments, we have reviewed Pump Relief Request 1

(PR)-07 an.' decided to withdraw it.

=

il In addition to the items discussed in Reference (b), we reevaluated our pressure isolation valves and Valve Relief Request (VR)-04. We have determined the valves discussed in VR 04 are not pressure

_Q isolation valves. We are withdrawing VR-04.

d E

As we noted in reference (b), we have concluded that an additional relief request (VR-13) will be i

required, it is related to the testing of the pre sturizer safety valves. We are submitting the additional j

relief request for your review and approval. We request that the review and approval of VR-13 not
