LPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Unit 2 Reactor Vessel Upper Internals Replacement Safety Evaluation On March 7,1985 Northern States Power and Westinghouse met with the NRC Staff to discuss the proposed replacement of the Prairie Island reactor vessel upper internals.
During that meeting NSP committed to provide the NRC Staff with informational copies of two safety evaluation reports, one addressing the new upper internals design, and the second related to the handling and storage of the old upper internals.
The safety evaluation reports for the Unit 1 upper internals replacement were submitted to the Commission by our letters dated February 13, 1986 and March 4, 1986.
We have evaluated the applicability of the Unit 1 safety evaluations with respect to the replacement of the Unit 2 upper internals and have concluded that the Unit 1 safety evaluations are applicable to the Unit 2 replacement.
As such, no specific safety evaluations are being prepared for the replacement of the Unit 2 upper internals and no additional submittals to the Commission are planned prior to the Unit 2 replacement.
