Dear Ms. Christine:
in a memorandum dated May 27,1997, regarding your concems about the safety of the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station, my staff enclosed relevant documents that would normally be released to the public relating to the Maine Yankee Atomic Puer Station for your information. These records were accumulated by the Independent Safety Assessment Team (ISAT) and respond to your request for " individual reports, draft ISAT reports, dissenting opinions, meeting notes, communications between Chairman Jackson and the ISAT, and other information in the NRC's possession."
The memorandum also indicated that the staff sent some documents to the licensee for a proprietary / confidential review pursuant to Exemption 4 of the Freedom of information Act, and that upon receipt of the licensee's response, the NRC would forward to you portions of those documents, as well as place the documents in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
The staff received the licensee's complete response on July 10,1997, and in accordance with your request, we are providing you with tha following documents. Appendix A is a list of all the documents we are enclosing in their entirety, which will be made publicly available or are already in the NRC Public Document Room. Appendix B is a list of all the documents we are enclosing that have been partially redacted in accordance with j
Exemption 8 of the Freedom of information Act to delete information, the disclosure of f
which would likely cause substantial harm to the competitive position of the licensee.
These documents will also be placed in the NRC PDR. The staff believes that these
