SUBJECT:

STATE OF OHIO TO BECOME AN AGREEMENT STATE Gentlemen:

It is expected that on August 31,1999, Ohio will become an Agreement State, assuming jurisdiction over materials licensees who conduct work within Ohio's jurisdiction, including those who wish to work under reciprocal recognition of their Agreement State license. In the past, you may have worked in Ohio, using your Agreement State license under the provisions of NRC reciprocity regulations (10 CFR 150.20), and paid the NRC recognition fees.

On August 31,1999, Ohio regulations will become effective, and your Agreement State license will not be recognized as valid without ac.knowledgment %p the Ohio Department of Health.

The Ohio Department of Health, Bureau of Radiation PrW on, will be the regulatory agency.

The contact for non-medical applications is Mike Snee. W contact for medical applications is Mark Light. Their office telephone is (614) 644-2727 and t air facsimile number is (614) 466-0381. You should contact these representatives to obtain specific requirements before beginning work in Ohio. However, we have been informed of several details when filing for reciprocity with Ohio: the cost of reciprocity recognition will be $1,100, payable to Ohio; in any calendar year,180 days of reciprocity is allowed before an Ohio license is required; persons must apply at least three days before reginning activity in Ohio; reciprocity agreements expire annually on December 31.

We thank you for your cooperation. If you have questions please contact Diane Heim at (404) 562-4723.

Sincerely (Originalsigned by M. Lesser)
