Thank you for your letter of September 8, 1986 concerning the U.N. Conference on Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy to be held in Geneva in March-April 1987.
On your recommendation, I will plan to attend the meeting to present a paper on the role of the regulatory authority in helping assure the safe operation of nuclear power facilities and in preserving the nuclear power option.
In addition, we will-look into the question of identifying two additional speakers to address the other topics proposed for NRC to cover.
Please keep us informed as the agenda for the conference is firmed up.
We in turn will confirm the availability of sta ff members who might make the other two presentations.
