- ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF JUNE 30,1999, LETTER
Dear Ms. Hendricks:
Thank you for your letter dated June 30,1999, in which you summarized the industry's commitment to review Interim Staff Guidance (ISG) documents developed by the Spent Fuel Project Office (SFPO).
In that letter, you provided comments on ISG-12, " Buckling of irradiated Fuel Under Drop Conditions." and a copy of a " Fuel Classification Protocol for Dry Fuel Storage" developed by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI). The staff will consider your comments on the ISG and is reviewing the protocol. We will provide written comments on this protocol to you by the end of September..You also noted that NEl is still evaluating ISG-5, " Accident Dose Calculations," and
'lSG-11, " Storage of High Bumup Spent Fuel," We also understand from discussions with your '
staff that you may have additional comments on ISG-4, " Cask Closure Weld inspections," as l related to a " white paper" that was provided to SFPO in October 1998, on this same subject.
