50-328 As required by the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant unit 1 technical specification 4.4.5.5.b, enclosed are the results of the steam generator tube inspection and.
tube plugging activities that were concluded on Octobec 12, 1985. Rcw 1 U-bend tubes with nonquantifiable wall-degradation are listed in tables 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the enclosure.
Initially, we elected to plug row 1 tubes that had exhibited any detectable degradation.
In addition to the row 1 tubes listed as plugged in tables 2, 3, 4, and 5, we further decided to preventively plug all row 1 U-bend tubes in the unit 1 steam generators to preclude the potential of primary-to-secondary leakage associated with row 1 U-bends.
In the future, we plan to reclaim the preventively plugged tubes by removing the plugs, heat treating the U-bend area of the tubes, and performing post heat treatment eddy current tests.
