FEB l'. Le Mr. Robert S. Dean Parameter, Inc.

Dear Mr. Dean:
SUBJECT:
CLOSE0VT OF IE BULLETINS 83-01, 83-04 NRC CONTRACT N0. 05-85-157-02 PARAMETER: NRC-157-02, TASK 014, 015 This letter is to inform you of the subject bulletin status for the facilities listed below. Following Parameter's notification that their review had not discovered an explicit bulletin closecut we contacted the respective NRC resident inspectors.
- 1. Haddam Neck (IEB 83-01) - The senior resident inspector (P. D. Swetland) confirmed by telecon that IR 83-27 did hold the bulletin open. He has a followup IR which was already in preparation when we called that he expects to issue approximately February 16, 1987 providing final bulletin closecut.
- 2. Cook 1, 2 (IEB 83-01) - The resident inspector (J. K. Heller) stated by telecon that IR 83-04/05 was intended to be the final closecut of the bulletin. The frequency of maintenance which was discussed in the IR was not considered by the resident to be an open item.
- 3. Kewaunee (IEB 83-01) - The senior resident inspector (R. L. Nelson) confirmed by telecon that IR 83-04 was meant to be the closeout for this bulletin. The resident considers the lubricant issue to have been satis-factorily addressed by the licensee.
- 4. Point Beach (IEC 83-01) - The resident inspector (R. Hague) confirmed by telecon that IR 83-04/05 was intended to be the final closeout for the bulletin. The IR did not discuss specifics of the bulletin or the close-out but the resident stated in the telecon that all aspects of the bulle-tin were complete.
- 5. Maine Yankee (IEB 83-04) - The senior resident inspector (C. F. Holden) has verified the licensees completion of the items noted in IR 83-06. He has not issued a subsequent IR which would provide closecut of the bulle-tin. He considers all aspects of the bulletin to be complete.
- 6. McGuire (IEB 83-04) - the senior resident inspector (W. T. Orders) con-firmed by telecon that the procedures noted in IR 83-21/29 have been corrected and therefore all aspects of the bulletin have been completed.
There is no subsequent IR which notes the completion of the last bulletin items.

Y Mr. Robert S. Dean The closecuts for Cook, Kewaunee and Point Beach may be closed based on the verbal confirmation that those irs were the final inspection. The closecut for Maine Yankee and McGuire should note that there were additional inspections after the last noted IR was completed and this letter serves as documentation that the respective residents verified by telecon that the bulletins are complete. The Haddam Neck report should be available soon enough to be includ-ed as a complete item in the final NUREG. If you have any questions please contact Jim Stewart of this office at (301) 492-9061.
Sincerely, Alexander W. Dromerick W
