Pursuant to 10CFR50.59(b), the following items are submitted for the Kansas State University TRIGA Mk II Nuclear Reactor Facility for the period 1 October 1985 - 30 September 1986.

A. Changes in the Facility

1. On 25 Oct 85, one standard General Atomics TRIGA control rod with associated guide tube was received from the Northrop Corporation. Authorization for the transfer was given in a 21 Mar 85 letter from George L. Vivian of the DOE Idaho Operations Office. The receipt was approved on 12 Apr 85 by the Reactor Safeguards Committee, who found that the receipt and use of the control rod involved no unreviewed safety questions and constituted no significant hazard to the integrity of the reactor or safety of personnel.
2. During 1986, an air-handling unit for heating and air-conditioning, previously installed for experimental purposes, was made a permanent fixture of the Reactor Facility.

Installation of the unit was approved by the Reactor Safeguards Committee on 31 Jan 84. Because the open duct work of the unit does not interfere with f ree-volume of the Reactor Facility, and because no penetrations of the facility boundary were required, installation was found not to involve unreviewed safety questions.
