DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 SCHEDULE FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF ATWS MITIGATION SYSTEM ACTUATION CIRCUITRY (AMSAC)
POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 On September 23, 1986 we received a letter from Mr. Timothy G.
Colburn of your staff transmitting the Staff's Safety Evaluation Report (SER) on the Westinghouse Owner's Group (WOG) Topical Report WCAP-10858 "AMSAC Generic Design Package."
This WCAP was submitted in response to 10 CFR 50.62 " Requirements for Resolution of Risk from Anticipated Transient Without Scram (ATWS) Events for Light-Water-Cooled Nuclear Power Plants".
You requested that we review the SER and provide within 30 days of receipt of the letter our schedules for addressing the plant specific design features discussed in Appendix A of the SER and for implementation following the Staff's approval of our Point Beach specific design.
The proposed schedule for implementation of the AMSAC at Point Beach is based upon the completion of the Staff's review of our plant specific design package.
This is to help ensure that the final design to be implemented at Point Beach will adequately meet the requirements of 10 CFR 50.62.
Wisconsin Electric intends to submit a description of the final AMSAC design by April 30, 1987.

Mr. H. R. Denton-October 10, 1986 Page 2 scheduled outage for each unit after a twelve month period for procurement of materials following final staff approval of our Point Beach specific design.
