CATEGORICAL EXCLUSION FOR AMENDMENT REQUEST DATED FEBRUARY 12, 1986 By letter dated February 12, 1986, Exxon requested an amendment to License No. SNM-1227 to revise license conditions with respect to plutonium. The processing equipment and facility have been decontaminated. Those wastes resulting from the decontamination effort, which are too high in plutonium concentration to be disposed of under current regulations, will be stored in plastic-lined 55-gallon metal drums until such a time that an approved disposal method is established. The exhaust air from the storage area passes through two HEPA filters prior to release. The storage of the waste will not have an effect on the environment or the public health and safety. Accordingly, pursuant to 10 CFR 51.22(c)(11), the staff concludes that neither an Environmental Assessment nor an Environmental Impact Statement is warranted for this proposed action.
