SUBJECT:
PROPOSED FINAL GENERIC LETTER " ASSURANCE OF SUFFICIENT NET POSITIVE SUCTION HEAD FOR EMERGENCY CORE COOLING AND CONTAINMENT HEAT REMOVAL PUMPS" During the 444th meet.ing of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, the ACRS discussed your August 15, 1997 response to the Committee's comments on the subject generic letter.
The Committee remains concerned with regard to allowing credit by the staff for containment overpressure to ensure sufficient net positive suction head, and would like to continue discussion of this matter with the NRC staff during a future meeting.
The Committee also accepts your offer to be briefed on the NRC power reactor inspection program.
