REQUEST FOR PRESENTATION AT NRC'S 1999 DECOMMISSIONING POWER REACTOR WORKSHOP

Dear Mr. Nelson:

On October 13 and 14,1999, we will be holding our 1999 Decommissioning Power Reactor Workshop at the Ramada inn, Meriden, CT, and invite you, on behalf of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), to present to the NRC staff NEl's assessment of our inspection of decommissioning power reactors. NEl's comments on our inspection activities would contribute to our planned revision of our decommissioning inspection program to incorporate lessons learned and risk insights.

Our workshop agenda is enclosed and presently schedules your presentation for October 14,,

1999, at 10:30 a.m. This time and date can be change somewhat to support your travel needs.

Your audience will consist primarily of members of the Senior Executive Service, branch chiefs, project managers, and specialist inspectors. Please expect 20-30 attendees. Also note that we plan to have a public workshop on the night of October 13,1999, to inform the public of our inspection program and to hear their comments and respond to their questions. NEl's attendance, as well as that of other decommissioning reactor licensees at this public workshop, is encouraged.

We look forward to learning of NEl's assessment of our inspection efforts.
