- Response to Request for Information Concerning Spent Fuel Pool Masonry Hall

Subject:

Spent Fuel Pool Masonry Hall Gentlemen:

In Reference (c), we responded to your request for additional information contained in Reference (b). One part of our response requires clarification and amplification.

In response to your request on the results of the analysis of the acceptability of offsite dose releases in the event of boiling of the water in the spent fuel pool (SFP), we failed to indicate that the analysis also considered an unfiltered release, which is the applicable case assuming the collapse of SFP masonry wall.

The results of the analysis showed that an unfiltered release of radioactivity due to boiling of the SFP water would not exceed the technical specification release rate limits.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

Very truly yours, HAINE YANKEE ATOMIC POWER COMPANY W
