Section 309(a) of tha Corrprehensive f.nti-Aparthoid Act of 1986-providas that no uranium nre er uranium oxide produced or manufactured in South Africa" ray be imported into the United States after December 31, 198f. As a result of this lenislation the Nuclear Regulatory Comnission, on December 31, 1986, revised its reculations to recuire a spacific license fer the impart nf uranium in any fern of South African nricin.
This revision to cur renulations modifies the aeneral import license at 10 CFR 110.??, which -has been in af fect -
since Jenuary 1985, to preclude its use for the import of urarium of South African origin.
As a related matter, we hava reviewed cur records to identify any specific import licenses, issued prior to January 1085, which are still valid and under which material of South African cricin could entar +he U.S.
As a result of this review, we have identified the following licceso issued to vcur compeny:
