y Upon arriving at __ the site Monday morning, the AEC staff initially met with the applicant and the applicant'arconsultants prior to l~

beginning the tour and indicated those areas of the site that the staff ~ wished to visit.1 I them accompanied Mr.

C. Erickson of l

WPPSS and Mr. K. Wise of ERASCO on a visit to the onsite tower l

land. mechanical weather station on"Minot Peak.

The 199-ft. guyed..,

j

. triangular. tower onsite, haa a good exposure in an open field..

.The nearest trees are some 10 to 15 meters high alders and firs.

about 150 to 200 meters from the tower.

The instrumentation con-1 l

forms to the recommendations of Regulatory Guide 1.23 except for the lack of a humidity'nearuring instrument'at a level representa-tive of conditions at the level of the cooling tower exit -and l

appeared to be working properly.

The recorders may be remotely',

l l

scanned by telephone.

The mechanical weather station on Minot l

Peak appeared to be in a neglected condition, being tilted out of.the vertical and having loose guy wires.

Mr. Erickson stated J,y _

that a new concrete base-for the mast would be installed.soon l

and the station returned to an, acceptable operating condition.
