To discuss the current staff position regarding component cooling water supplied to reactor coolant punp motor and bearing coolers and paap seal heat exchangers. This position was given to WPPSS by letter dated October 19, 1976, O. D. Parr to J. J. Stein. See attached preliminary agenda.

coolingwater(CCW)supplytoreactorcoolant(RC) pop,popmotor and seal coolers. They are primarily interested in that option in

the position that permits upgrading the CCW to Seismic Category I, Quality Group C, and ASME Section III Class 3, and other requirements.
Specific questions advanced by WPPSS prior to the meeting area 1.
If " safety grade" autocatic protection is supplied on loss of cooling water, or CCW is single active failure proof and designed to accept moderate. energy line cracks, must they also design CCW to Seismic Category I, Quality Group C and ASME III. Class 37 2.
To what extent must CCW system meet upgiaded criteria, e.g.,
back to and including the makeup source for the system?

What are staff's detailed requirements on safety grade automatic protection of plant in the event of CCW failure to one or more pumps.
