Dear Mr. Denton:
Enclosed are five copies of the second 6-month report (January 1986 -
June 1986) of the VEGP Groundwater Monitoring Program. This submittal is in response to the request by the NRC on the progress of the groundwater monitoring program commenced in July 1985. The report reviews the results developed over the first full year of data collected.
It is our conclusion that the data collected provide a sufficient base for demonstrating the range and characteristics of short-term water table fluctuations. Any significant trend (i.e., a general rise of 0.5 ft. or greater) in the water table can be readily detected by monthly monitoring. We propose that the monitoring frequency at all wells but LT-13 be reduced to monthly by the end of October. The continuous recorder at LT-13 would remain until the end of November, when it would be removed. Your staff's concurrence is requested to implement this recommendation.
