REPORT OF LOST TRITlUM EXIT SIGNS
Dear Mr. Moeslein:
i Thank you for your July 22,1999 letter notifying NRC Region lll of the loss of the four tritium l (hydrogen-3 gas) filled exit signs. These signs, three-Model 700C10 (Serial No. 8444,8424, P146) and a Model 700C20 (Serial No. 4932) were manufactured by Self-Powered Lighting Inc.
Each exit sign contained nominally 7.6 curies (281 GBq) of tritium gas as of July 19,1999. You
- indicated that on or about July 1999, these exit signs were discovered missing. We understand {
- that because your interviews with employees and search efforts to recover these missing j l general licensed devices proved unsuccessful, you concluded that the most likely explanation is
! that these exit signs were stolen. We have reviewed your letter and your corrective actions to
- prevent recurrence and have no further questions at this time.
in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be l placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
