Dear Mr. Greer:
Your Quality Assurance Program A) proval No. 0754 is hereby terminated. The l Nuclear Regulatory Commission pualished a final, rule, effective June 27, 1997 l revising the requirements of 10 CFR Part 34. " Licenses for Industrial Radiography and Radiation Safety _ Requirements for Industrial Radiographic Operations." The revision, which contained numerous changes in the requirements, also modified the quality assurance (QA) requirements for transportation. As a result of these changes, a separate NRC 0A program opproval is no longer needed.
Specifically, transportation activities are now contained in a new paragraph.
10 CFR 71.101(g). This provision was added to the regulations and requires
- that inspection and m61ntenance )rograms limited to radiographic exposure-devices, source changers, or paccages transporting these devices and meeting
- the provisions of 10 CFR Part 34.31(b). or equivalent Agreement State l regulations, satisfy the general license requirements specified in 10 CFR Part 71.12(b) for Type B transport packages.
