Dear Mr. Nodes:
Your Quality Assurance Program Approval No. 0872 is hereby terminated. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission pualished a final rule. effective June 27, 1997.
revising the requirements of 10 CFR Part 34. " Licenses for Industrial '
Radiography and Radiation Safety Requirements for Industrial Radiographic Operations." The revision, which contained numerous changes in the requirements, also modified the quality assurance (0A) requirements for transportation. As a result of these changes, a separate NRC QA program g approval is no longer needed.
l-Specifically. transportation activities are now contained in a new paragraph.
10 CFR 71.101(g). This provision was added to the regulations and requires that inspection and maintenance 3rograms limited to radiographic exposure l devices, source changers, or paccages transporting these devices and meeting the provisions of 10 CFR Part 34.31(b) or equivalent Agreement State t
regulations, satisfy the general license requirements specified in 10 CFR Part 71.12(b) for Type B transport packages.
