Dear Mr_. Boykin:
Your Quality-Assurance Program Approval No. 0840 is hereby terminated. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission publithed a final rule, effective June 27, 1997, ,
revising the requirements of 10 CFR Part 34 " Licenses for Industrial "
Radiography and Radiation Safety Requirements for-Industrial Radiographic Operations." The revistan, which contained numerous-changes in the l requirements, also modified the quality assurance (0A) requirements for j
' transportation. As a result of these changes.-a separate NRC OA program approval is no longer needed.
Specifically, transportation activities are now contained in;a new paragraph, 10 CFR-71.101(g). This provision was added to the regulations and requires that ins 3rograms limited to radiographic exposure L -devices,pection source and maintenance changers, or paccages transporting these devices and meeting-the provisions of 10 CFR Part 34.31(b) or equivalent Agreement State regulations, satisfy the general license requirements specified in 10 CFR Part 71.12(b) for Type B transport packages.
