Dear Mr. Lake:
Your Quality' Assurance Program A3 proval No. 0444 is-hereby terminated.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission pualished a final-rule, effective June 27, 1997, revising-the requirements of 10 CFR Part 34. " Licenses for Industrial Radiography and Radiation Safety Requirements for Industrial Radiographic Operations." The revision, which contained. numerous changes in the
- requirements, also modified the quali_ty assurance (0A) requirements for-transportation. As a result of these changes, a separate NRC OA program approval is no_ longer needed.
Specifically. transportation activities are now contained in a_ new paragraph,_
10 CFR 71.101(g).. This provision was added-to the regulations and requires that inspection and maintenance )rograms limited to radiographic exposure devices, source changers, or paccages transportin these devices and meeting theprovisionsof10CFRPart34.31(b),-orequivagentAgreementState regulations, satisfy the general license requirements specified in 10 CFR Part 71,12(b) for Type B transport packages.
