' Nuclear Regulatory Commission pualished a final rule, effective June 27, 1997.
revising the requirements-of 10 CFR Part 34. "Licensas for-Industrial Radiography and Radi'ation Safet . Requirements for Industrial Radiographic Operations." The revision, whi h contained numerous changes in the
- requirements, also modified the quality assurance -(QA) requirements for - j transportation. 'As a-result of theseichanges.Ja separate NRC QA program- -
approval is no longer needed.
Specifically, transportation-activities are now contained in a 'new paragraph. -
10 CFR 71.101(g). This provision was added to the-regulations and requires; that. inspection and-maintenance- 3rograms limited to radiographic exposure devices, source changers, or paccages transporting 'these devices and meeting the provisions of 10'CFR Part 34.31(b). or equivalent Agreement State--
' regulations, satisfy the-general license requirements specified in 10 CFR Part
~71.12(b)'for Type B transport packages.
