The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has completed its review of the subject report.
It was sent on July 20,1999 and was provided wellin advance of the July 30th due date. This l
product is programmatically and technically acceptable for publication and will be placed in our .j public document room.
The report fumishes an excellent analysis of the factors that can influence future infiltration and ;
groundwater percolation at Yucca Mountain. This is key information to help resolve the subissue on deep percolation. The next step is to add the effects of vegetation to the L infiltration / percolation abstractions, and then to test the relative sensitivity of repository performance to these additional effects. Relevant updates and improvements to our performance assessment code should then be recommended.
