[External_Sender] Nuclear storage My father was an Army officer/ dept of the Army civilian during the 1950-60s.He was also a downwind veteran that died of cancer. His solution for the nuclear waste disposal was to add 1 penny to every tax payers' bill to raise funds to build a rocket to shoot the waste into the sun. Is this a potential solution?
Getting the waste off Earth would be the safest storage solution, but cluttering up space with nuclear garbage doesn't seem terribly smart if we plan to continue activities in space, for instance back to the moon or onward to Mars and the outer planets.
Would shooting it into the sun work? Or would it set off an unpleasant reaction by the sun?
Thanks for your consideration (and maybe an answer).
