SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE On December 1,

1985, the Virgil C. Summe r Nuclear Station, Unit No.

1-was shutdown for re fue ling.

On December 14, 1985, at 2330 hours0.027 days <br />0.647 hours <br />0.00385 weeks <br />8.86565e-4 months <br />, the reactor was critical.

On December 16, 1985, at 1430 hours0.0166 days <br />0.397 hours <br />0.00236 weeks <br />5.44115e-4 months <br />, low power ph'ys ic s testing was c'omp le t e.

On December 17, 1985, at 1227 hours0.0142 days <br />0.341 hours <br />0.00203 weeks <br />4.668735e-4 months <br />, the generator was placed on line.

On December 25, 1985, at.0830 hours0.00961 days <br />0.231 hours <br />0.00137 weeks <br />3.15815e-4 months <br />, the reactor was tripped manually from approximately 92% power.

A pre s s ur i ze r s pr a y va lv e failed open causing a reduction in system pressure.-

Automatic Safety Injection resulted from low pre s s ur i ze r pressure.

Upon repressurization,~the RCS was taken s ol id resulting in a challenge to the pre s s ur i ze r power operated relie f ~ va lves at approximately 2335 psig.

On December 26, 1985, at 0748 hours0.00866 days <br />0.208 hours <br />0.00124 weeks <br />2.84614e-4 months <br />, the reactor was critical.

At 1153 hours0.0133 days <br />0.32 hours <br />0.00191 weeks <br />4.387165e-4 months <br />, the generator was placed on line.

On December 31, 1985, the plant was operating at approximately 97%

power.
