LETTER TO J W COOK, CP CO FROM W T CROW, U S NRC DATED SEPTEMBER 3, 1986 In accordance with Reference 2, Consumers Power Company requests termination of Materials License No SNM-1904 and SNM-1905. These licenses were issued for storage of five fission chambers at our Midland facility.
The fission chambers authorized under SNM-1904 and SNM-1905 were transferred 0
for storage to the Consumers Power Company Palisades Nuclear Plant, License No DPR-20 on August 28 and August 29, 1984.
Prior to being transferred to Palisades Plant, the fission chambers were stored at the Midland Energy Center. A copy of the source inventory and leak test records performed prior to shipment to Palisades Plant are enclosed.
A radiation survey was cont.ucted at the Midland Storage Facility to c.onfirm the absence of radioactive material and to confirm the absence of contamination in the areas where the fission chambers were previously stored.
