Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 TMI-1 Control Room Habitability Review This letter is intended to clarify a statement in your August 14, 1986 letter concerning TMI-l Control Room Habitability Review (MPA #F-70 or NUREG-0737, Item III.D.3.4). That letter stated that: " potassium iodide [is] available in the control room."
Potassium iodide is not available in the control room. However, potassium iodide is available on site through the on site medical department. This department is manned daily through a normal work week.
During backshif ts, the l
medical department is reached by beepers with a maximum response time of one hour.
In this way, potassium iodide is available to the control room in one l
hour or less.
No other areas or personnel have access to potassium iodide at TMI.
